Coaches will be required to complete an on-line authorization form to allow us to perform this check.  There will be no charge to the coach(s) for the background check.  We will not allow anyone to work as a coach unless they have cleared the background check, so failure to complete the authorization form automatically disqualifies someone from acting as a coach.

The background check will include a search for criminal records and listing on a sex offenders list.  A criminal record will not automatically disqualify someone from working as a coach; this will depend on the nature of the crime.  Inclusion on a sex offenders list will automatically disqualify someone from working as a coach.  No-one, other than the members of the EUSA board, will have access to any of the findings of the background search, although individuals who wish to obtain a copy of their own report will be able to do so.  Anyone who is disqualified from coaching because of the findings from the background check will automatically be given a copy of their report and the opportunity to correct any inaccuracies.

Lest we send out the wrong message to parents by instigating this check, please be aware that EUSA has provided a safe environment for our children for many years.  This check is not in response to any event involving our children, but a proactive measure to ensure that the environment remains safe.
