Edison United Soccer Assoc. will host TRYOUTS for Travel Teams in May at the Spencer Rockman Complex on Saturday May 7th and May 14th.
These tryouts are for players and parents interested in joining existing travel teams or forming a new travel team. Players and parents must review the two Flyers and determine whether this is a venue suitable for you son/daughter. More information is available at www.edisonunitedsoccer.com relating to teams, coaches and age groups. Potential players may contact coaches of existing teams to arrange for participation in a few practice sessions so as to determine your capacity to play at their skill level and to get familiar with future teammates. This is an option before the actual tryouts.
MNJYSA(Mid-NJ Youth Soccer Assoc) www.mnjysa.org is the umbrella organization under which EUSA and all other Central Jersey town teams participate in. They schedule games, set the flights(divisions), resolve conflicts and oversee all matters related to travel in Mid NJ.
In Travel Soccer, teams are grouped in divisions called "flights". Flight 10 being the least competitive all thru flight 1 as the most competitive. Most teams start at the mid level point of flight 5 and work their way up or down. Teams of similar skilled are scheduled against each other and after the fall season, based on wins and losses, they are re-evaluated and placed in a higher flight or a lower flight for the spring season. This is done to maintain a level playing field among the teams.
For the above reasons, teams train to compete with the intention of moving up in the standings. Players are a little more focused and coaches are a little more intense and demanding of players and parents in their commitment to soccer and the team that travel by its competitive nature requires. The opponents are of the same mindset in their pursuit of excellence.
All interested in Coaching at the travel level please send an E-mail to EUSA. We seek coaches who:
- Have experience as coaches or players.
- Can teach the game to kids 8 ~ 14.
- Seek to teach children, especially the younger ones, the skills needed to become future soccer players and understand that it is long road.
- Understand that it is better to win the players and lose the games than to win the games and lose the players.
- Know that players need to make the mistakes they need to make in order to learn how to play the games and have the patience to allow them to be creative, imaginative and bold with the ball.
